Project Engineer - PS EE


We are seeking a Project Engineer in Power Supply Design to join our team in the beautiful mountains of NC. The Project Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of custom and standard AC and DC power systems, including discrete circuitry. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced team setting with technical accuracy and self-motivation. Must have proven history of power electronics design with solid knowledge of thermal management, electromagnetics, and various power topologies.

Required:

Experience: 3-5 years in switch-mode power design
Ability to perform circuit design and analysis to achieve a highly reliable and efficient power supply, in accordance with customer requirements or internal development
Develop/draw a readable and usable electrical schematic
Comprehensive knowledge of electronic power devices such as MOSFETs, Schottky Diodes, IGBT's
Hold design reviews providing deliverables such as: complete Bill-of-Materials, block-diagrams, schematics, drawings, PCB design documentation, specifications, test data results, and other necessary documentation
Correspond with purchasing manager, vendors, and contract manufacturers to ensure expectations are met
Seek ways to improve design, cut costs, improve speed, and ensure accuracy on project(s)
Manage/control documentation in a timely, efficient manner following internal ISO9001:2008 procedures
Write, document, and provide special manufacturing guidelines and test specifications for new products, materials, or processes
Must be motivated self-starter who has the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Proficient in PSPICE circuit analysis software and Microsoft Office suite
Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Effective communicate in a cross-functional environment is a must.

Preferred:

Experience with military standards (MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-461)
Knowledge of embedded microcontroller products
Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques
Experience with power systems utilizing Motor Drives, Energy Storage Systems, Fuel Cells, or other alternatives
Knowledge of AutoCAD and P-CAD drafting software, Altium PCB software, and/or SolidWorks software

Qualifications:

BS in Electrical Engineering
3-5 years experience in power design
