Job Description Summary

Aegis Power Systems, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of power electronics, is seeking a Lead Electronics Technician to join our growing team for an on-site position in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina!

The Lead Electronics Technician supports the development and implementation of tests to evaluate, verify, troubleshoot, and repair our power supply products. This includes designing test fixtures to support test events, setup of test equipment, collecting data during test events, troubleshooting and root cause analysis during failures, and advising on repairs or alternate design paths. This position works closely with design engineers and production staff to test and resolve challenges in our power supply products. The Lead Electronics Technician must have a thorough knowledge of AC and DC circuitry, schematics interpretation, and test data capture methods. Must have experience using DMM and Oscilloscope for troubleshooting AC and DC circuits. LabView and C++ programming familiarity is required. Familiarity with EMI lab tests and equipment a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design test fixtures including layout, bill of material specification, and test outcomes.
  • Repair, test, and troubleshoot all aspects of our manufactured products.
  • Write code for microcontroller-based test fixtures using C, C++
  • Write acceptance test programs using LabVIEW.
  • Perform bench tests and automatic Acceptance Test Procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and fix board-level problems within test fixtures and Aegis product per IPC requirements.
  • Maintain a good work attendance record.
  • Perform technical training of other technician personnel.
  • Write and implement test procedures assuring that all specifications of unit are met using AS9100 process.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly workstation and test equipment.

Required Skills

  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Strong ability to understand engineering documents and schematics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products for use in day-to-day computing
  • LabView and C++ programming
  • Familiarity with EMI lab test and equipment a plus.
  • Familiarity with military standards a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum --2 year AA Degree in Electronics or associated field; 3 years related work experience
  • Preferred -- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technical field

Job Description Summary

Aegis Power Systems, Inc. is seeking a Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and maintain digital control for power electronics hardware. Come join our growing team for an on-site position in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina!

The Firmware Engineer is responsible for ensuring firmware programming meets customer demands and internal development projects. This position works closely with our electrical engineers who design AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converters and inverters using a variety of power topologies. Candidate must have a programming background using microcontrollers for use in real time analog and digital controls with serial interfaces including UART, I2C, Ethernet, and others. The best candidate will be detail oriented, focused on quality and precision, and willing to share his/her skills in a team environment to yield competitive and accurate results.


Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop new firmware to support existing designs
  • Develop testbeds to validate and debug firmware designs
  • Manage projects in an efficient and cohesive way, using our ISO9001:2015 / AS9100:2016 process
  • Analyze problems and troubleshoot issuesto provide failure analysis
  • Communicate with customers to provide technical support.
  • Manage and document firmware revisions
  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of latest embedded trends
  • Collaborate with team on overall power electronics hardware designs
  • Create technical reports and presentations for team or customers
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education & Experience

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technical field
  • 3 years’ industry-related work history

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with Microchip brand microcontrollers
  • Experience with using the C programming language for bare-metal embedded applications
  • Experience with RS232, RS422, RS485, or CANBus 2.0 for asynchronous serial communication
  • Experience with I2C and SPI for synchronous serial communication
  • Willingness to learn new communication protocols as needed
  • Strong familiarity with control theory and use with embedded microcontrollers
  • Strong ability to understand engineering documents and schematics
  • Working knowledge of electronics laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, etc.)
  • Experience using oscilloscopes to validate and debug firmware
  • Willingness to learn new power electronics architectures
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products for use in day-to-day computing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of military, aviation, and telecom standards (vibration, shock, EMI, environmental, etc.)
  • Familiarity with PCAD or Altium
  • Familiarity with Labview
  • Experience or training in power electronics
  • Experience with Ethernet communication
  • Knowledge of Asynchronous event processing
  • Knowledge of Digital filters and sampling theory
  • Error detecting and self-correction communication

Job Description Summary

We are seeking an Senior Design Engineer to join our growing team in the beautiful mountains of NC! This electrical engineering position focuses on development of innovative power electronics designs to solve real-world problems in the realm of power, energy, and thermoelectrics. This position is responsible for product research, technical analysis, prototype development, product optimization, and customizations.

Ideal candidate will have experience in defense systems, data/telecommunications, embedded computing, and/or aircraft systems. He/she should be a self-starter, drawing on proven field experience to design and complete end-to-end power electronics solutions.

The Senior Design Engineer should be creative, self-motivated, organized, and visionary. The best candidate will be a team-player with good verbal and written English communication skills. Cross-team functionality is imperative as this position will be working with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and support departments.


Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform product research to determine commercial viability and patentability of new designs
  • Seek ways to improve design, cut costs, improve speed, and ensure accuracy on project(s)
  • Hold design reviews providing deliverables such as: complete Bill-of-Materials, block-diagrams, schematics, drawings, PCB design documentation, specifications, test data results, and other necessary documentation
  • Prepare technical presentations for government agencies, potential suppliers and customers, and investors
  • Oversee product development in an organized and efficient manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience submitting patent filings

Job Description Summary

Aegis Power Systems is searching for a qualified electronics assembler to join our team for a full-time position with benefits in the beautful mountains of North Carolina!

The electronic assembler will be responsible for quality assembly of product, including hand soldering electronic components. This position works closely with other electronic and mechanical assemblers, test technicians, engineers, and quality inspectors.

The ideal candidate must be capable of assembling electronic components to the following specifications:

  • J-STD-001 (requirements for soldered electrical/ electronic assemblies)
  • IPC-620 (requirements/ acceptance for cable and wire harness assemblies)
  • IPC-610 (acceptability of electronic assemblies)
  • Product specifications and other contractually required documents

Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, organized workstation.
  • Build various assemblies including electrical/electronic, mechanical, instrumentation top assemblies, sub-assemblies, cables, harnesses, PCBs, etc.
  • Accurately interpret mechanical and electrical drawings including parts lists, schematics, running lists, interconnect diagrams, sketches, specifications, and electronic manufacturing work instructions.
  • Maintain a good work attendance record including overtime as needed.
  • Comprehend basic Microsoft Office skills and navigate through the company’s network system.
  • Maintain quality documentation to submit with assemblies to the quality inspector.
  • Communicate with teams members in English for both verbal and written instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Knowledge of J-STD and IPC-STD soldering requirements (certification is a plus)
